Nylon single-warp plain fabric: full analysis of structure, technology and application trends
Nylon single-warp plain fabric is a single-sided knitted fabric with nylon fiber as the main raw material and spandex fiber as the elastic component. It relies on the single-warp flat weaving structure and has the smooth and wear-resistant properties of nylon and the high elasticity and rebound characteristics of spandex. The fabric surface is smooth and delicate, with moderate elasticity. It is a commonly used basic fabric in sportswear, underwear, base clothing and other fields.
The core advantage of nylon-ammonium single-warp plain fabric comes from the complementary structural characteristics of the single-warp plain knitted structure and the performance of nylon-ammonium fiber.
Structural principle: Single warp flat weave is a single-sided knitted structure. During weaving, the knitting needles are looped in a "one-by-one" pattern. The loops are stacked on each other to form a flat and dense fabric surface, and the reverse side shows a uniform loop pattern. This structure allows the fabric to have good ductility and deformation resistance, and is not prone to pilling and snagging.
Principle of elasticity: spandex fiber is integrated into nylon yarn in the form of core-spun yarn. The high elongation at break of spandex (up to more than 500%) provides the fabric with transverse and longitudinal stretch resilience properties; the high strength characteristics of nylon fiber limit the over-stretching of spandex and prevent the fabric from loosening and deforming after long-term wear, achieving the dual effect of "smoothness + stable elasticity".
Raw material ratio: The mainstream ratio is nylon 85%~90% + spandex 10%~15%. The higher the spandex ratio, the stronger the elasticity of the fabric. The higher the nylon ratio, the better the fabric's wear resistance and gloss. The ratio can be flexibly adjusted according to the application scenario.
Yarn preparation: Spandex yarn is used as the core yarn, and nylon filament is spirally wrapped with the outer layer to make a nylon-spandex core-spun yarn. This not only avoids the stickiness caused by direct contact of spandex with the skin, but also improves the friction resistance of the yarn and extends the service life of the fabric.
Single warp flat weaving: Use a computer-controlled single-sided knitting machine, enter the preset knitting program, and control the knitting needles to knit at a uniform speed to ensure that the coils are arranged evenly and the fabric thickness is consistent. The yarn tension must be strictly controlled during the weaving process to prevent horizontal lines and uneven tightness on the surface of the fabric due to uneven tension.
Post-finishing process: It goes through pre-shrinking, scouring, dyeing, shaping, softening and other processes in sequence. The pre-shrinking process controls the fabric shrinkage within 3%, the shaping process fixes the fabric size and elasticity, and the soft finishing improves the fabric feel and optimizes the comfort of close-fitting wear.
Due to its flatness, smoothness and moderate elasticity, nylon-ammonia single-warp plain fabric has a wide range of application scenarios and is highly targeted:
Sportswear field: Used to make the lining or base layer of yoga clothes and fitness clothes. The flat surface reduces friction with the skin during exercise, and the elasticity adapts to the large extension of the limbs. At the same time, the moisture absorption and perspiration performance of nylon can quickly export sweat and keep the body surface dry.
Intimate underwear field: It is the core fabric of seamless underwear, thermal underwear, and underwear. Its delicate touch improves wearing comfort. It is elastic and fits the body shape without being tight. It has strong anti-deformation ability and can still maintain its original shape after multiple washings.
In the field of base clothing: it can be used to make base shirts, leggings, pantyhose, etc. The flat surface is not easy to wrinkle when paired with clothing. The smooth texture enhances the wearing experience. It is also wear-resistant and anti-snagging, making it suitable for high-frequency daily wear.
Washing requirements: It is recommended to wash by hand or machine in cold water (water temperature ≤30°C). When washing in a machine, put it in a laundry bag and avoid mixing it with rough clothes such as jeans and jackets to prevent the surface of the fabric from being rubbed and pilling. Chlorine-containing bleach is prohibited to prevent yellowing of nylon fibers and attenuation of elasticity of spandex.
Drying method: Lay flat in the shade or dry at low temperature on the reverse side to avoid sunlight exposure. Nylon is prone to fading and aging when exposed to the sun for a long time, and spandex exposure will accelerate elasticity failure. Do not wring out forcefully to prevent fabric deformation and coil structure damage.
Ironing and storage: The ironing temperature should be controlled at 120℃~140℃. When ironing, a layer of wet cloth should be placed to avoid direct contact with the fabric at high temperatures. When stored, fold it flat to avoid stretching and deformation of the fabric caused by hanging for a long time. Keep away from sharp objects to prevent snagging.
The current technological upgrade of jin-ammonia single-warp plain cloth focuses on three core dimensions:
Functional modification technology: Through antibacterial finishing, cooling finishing, sun protection finishing and other processes, the fabric is given antibacterial, deodorant, contact cooling, UPF50 + sun protection and other functions, and expands applications in outdoor sportswear, medical underwear and other subdivision fields.
Process optimization technology: Research and develop high-precision single-jersey knitting equipment to achieve precise control of coil density and improve the flatness and pilling resistance of the fabric; use low-temperature dyeing process to reduce energy consumption while protecting the elasticity of spandex and improving fabric performance stability.
Innovative raw material technology: Using recycled nylon instead of virgin nylon, combined with bio-based spandex, to create an environmentally friendly nylon single-warp plain cloth; through the application of ultra-fine nylon fiber, the softness and fineness of the fabric is further improved, and the close-fitting wearing experience is optimized.
Environmental protection trend: The application proportion of environmentally friendly raw materials such as recycled nylon and bio-based spandex continues to increase, dye-free and water-saving dyeing processes are gradually becoming popular, and green and low-carbon nylon single-warp plain cloth is more favored by brands and consumers.
Trend of functional compounding: Fabrics that integrate multiple functions such as moisture wicking, antibacterial, and warmth retention will become the mainstream choice for sports and outdoor clothing, meeting consumers’ demand for “one cloth with multiple uses.”
Trend of lightness and thinness: On the premise of maintaining elasticity and strength, ultra-thin nylon single-warp plain fabric is developed to adapt to summer underwear and light sun protection clothing, expanding the seasonal scope of application of the fabric.
With its flat and smooth characteristics and diversified functional potential, jinmmonia single-warp plain fabric is developing steadily in the direction of environmental protection, functionality, and lightness, driven by consumption upgrades and healthy living concepts.
