Double-sided flannel back printing offset printing is a special printing process for double-sided flannel fabrics. The core is to use offset printing technology to print patterns on the back of the fabric. It not only retains the soft and fluffy original texture of double-sided flannel, but also improves the firmness of the pattern and the front visual effect through back printing. It is one of the mainstream methods of high-end printing on velvet fabrics and is widely used in the fields of home textiles and apparel.
Double-sided flannel is the core carrier of printing. It is a high-quality woven velvet fabric. The raw materials are mainly pure cotton or polyester/cotton blends. The pure cotton version is skin-friendly and breathable, while the blended version is more durable and less likely to deform. After being processed by brushing, carding and other processes, the front and back sides are covered with fine short velvet. It feels soft like clouds, has excellent warmth retention, and has the same texture on both sides. It provides a good fabric foundation for back printing offset printing, and also determines that the printing process must avoid damaging the fluffiness of the velvet.
The core advantage of back offset printing is reverse printing and front color development, which is different from conventional front printing. The principle of the process is to print the dye on the back of the flannel through offset printing equipment, using the color absorption and penetration characteristics of the fiber to allow the color to naturally penetrate from the back to the front, making the front pattern appear soft and hazy. At the same time, the printing paste is prevented from directly contacting the fluff on the front of the fabric, effectively preventing the fluff from being crushed and hardening, and retaining the soft feel of double-sided flannel to a large extent.
The production process requires strict control of details. The core steps are divided into four steps: first, pre-process the double-sided flannel, remove impurities through pre-washing and shaping, keep the fluff flat and fluffy, and improve dye adsorption; then debug the offset printing equipment, prepare environmentally friendly offset printing ink according to the pattern requirements, control the ink viscosity and printing pressure, and ensure uniform printing on the back; then perform color fixation treatment, and use medium and low temperature baking to allow the ink to fully penetrate the fiber and set the shape. The color fastness to dry rubbing can reach 4-5 Level, wet rubbing color fastness level 3-4; final post-finishing, restore the fluffiness of the fabric's fluff through gentle combing, check the front color development effect, and ensure both pattern and texture.
The patterns adapted to this process are mainly simple and elegant styles, such as geometric lines, solid color gradients, simple flowers, etc. Overly complex fine patterns will affect the clarity due to the penetration effect. The application areas are mainly focused on high-end home textiles, such as flannel sheets, quilt covers, and blankets. It can also be used for autumn and winter home clothes, scarves and other clothing. When maintaining, please pay attention to gentle hand washing with neutral detergent or low-temperature machine washing. The water temperature should be controlled below 30°C. Avoid vigorous rubbing of the printed area. Lay it flat to dry in the shade. Avoid exposure to the sun and high-temperature drying to prevent ink from falling off and fabric deformation.
